11/16 Finishing up chapter 3

Here's what we did in class today:

  • Assigned Independent Reading One Pager and went over assignment expectations. It is due on December 13. You will have one day to work on it in class after Thanksgiving break, but otherwise it will be homework. 
  • Finished chapter 3 and chapter 3 notes
  • Period 4- Played a Kahoot reviewing chapters 1-3 of Animal Farm
  • Passed out one pager templates to those who wanted them

11/10 Enjoy your 3 day weekend!

No slides today

Here's what we did in class today:

  • Filled out the handout about political/economic systems and Russian revolution background information
    • For side 1, please be sure to fill out with complete sentences. You only need one example per system, but it should be well explained with how it connects to the definition.
    • For side 2, please answer the questions in complete sentences on a separate sheet of paper. 
    • Staple the 2 papers together to turn in.
    • Due at the end of class.
  • The sub will hand out one per student, but here are digital copies just in case anyone is absent. 
  • If you finish early, you can watch the short video on Edpuzzle/Google Classroom. Otherwise, this assignment is homework, to be due on Monday evening.

11/4 Fables & allegories

What we did in class today:

  • Completed a warm-up: What is a moral you try to live your life by?
  • Got "Animals & Allegories" handout stamped if it was completed
  • Went over responses on the handout
  • Read examples of fables
  • Shared in groups to discover what a fable is
  • If time allows: wrote your own fables using ideas from classmates' warm-up responses. 
Reminders:
  • Be reading your independent reading book for homework! At least 15 minutes a night...

-Listened to a book talk on the books Ms. McDermott is reading

-Read for 15 minutes
