-Wrote a paragraph discussing the poetic devices from either "Windigo" or"beware: do not read this poem"
-Turned in packets if you were finished with all annotations and questins.

-Read and annotated "The Raven"
-Answered comprehension questions about "The Raven"
-Selected one poem that you will write a paragraph about.

-Took the Quarter 1 Benchmark .
The benchmark is a test meant to measure your progress towards the English Language Arts standards. You will be graded for completion. If you score a 70% or above, you will earn 5 points of extra credit towards an assignment in a test or essay category.
Today in class we:
-Read the poem "beware: do not read this poem"
-Reviewed the terms "speaker" and "stanza" as they relate to poetry
-Annotated any unique choices with spelling, punctuation, and format in the "beware" poem
-Answered the 2 comprehension questions about the poem on page 109

1. Pronouns and Antecedents
Today in class you learned about pronouns and antecedents. After the lecture, you showed what you knew on the Google Classroom assignment. This was due today.
2. Using Vocabulary in context
You received a copy of this handout and received a short lesson on context clues. This handout was homework if not completed in class today. If turned in tomorrow, there will be no late penalty.
Today in class students completed a timed write based on "House Taken Over"
At the end of the timed write, students also turned in their "House Taken Over" packets

Reminder/Announcement! There will be a timed write on House Taken Over on Tuesday. You will be able to use your story packet. You will be assessed on 1 main skill: citing evidence in support of a claim
Schizophrenia is a challenging mental disorder that makes it difficult to distinguish between what is real and unreal, think clearly, manage emotions, relate to others, and function normally.
Learning about this mental illness will help inform your understanding of the story. To do this, you will read your assigned section of this article and take notes on it using the format below. Then, you will have a chance to share with others what you found out.
Absent students, you will take notes on any 1 section of the article, then ask me for a copy of the notes we did together as a class.
These notes will be stapled to your story packet and turned in on Tuesday.
